Fletcher robotics is a new program at Fletcher High School started this year and had a massive impact on the members lives allowing them to learn new skills and meet new people
Saturday, Jan. 5
On Saturday, January 5th Fletcher robotics went to Stillwater for the First Robotics Competition Kickoff. There we obtained our kit of parts and also were able to build the bottom part with the help of veteran teams and First officials. Each team was divided into three subgroups frame, transmission, and electronics. Each group went into three separate rooms where they were taught to build a specified part of the robot. Once each group had finished they met in the main room and put all the parts together to produce a moving bot.
Saturday, Sept. 15
Saturday, September 15 two teachers and six students from Fletcher High School
attended a robotics summit to gain information about starting a major robotics
program. Students were introduced to the nation wide robotics competition that
was founded by Dean Kamen, developer of the Segway. This program offers students
an opportunity to gain knowledge in the area of programming, mathematics, science,
engineering, and technology.
Fletcher High School has begun working towards
a goal of competing in the first regional competition to be held in Oklahoma
City this next March. Over the next few months they will be gathering information
and seeking mentors to help reach their goal. Mentors are needed in many different
areas such as fabrication, electronics, machining, engineering, and many other
areas. If you have expertise in any of these areas please contact Jason Adams
at jadams@fletcherschools.org or (580)549-3018. Stay tuned as Fletcher Robotics
embarks on this journey of knowledge and experience. Want to learn more about

First-For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
First is a nation wide competition in which teams build and compete with robots. Each year First teams are showed the arena and are giving their objective on the first saturday of January. First strongly promoteos Gracious Profesionalism. This means that you should do your best to help other teams whether they need a part or are having trouble finding a problem with their robot. This also means that you should not try to slaughter your opponent, First wants teams to try their best to win but they also want teams to have a close match.
This year robots will be placed in an oval shaped arena with five other robots two on their team and three on the opposing team.In the middle of the arena there are two racks with four colored balls on top two red and two blue. For the first fifteen seconds robots are in assisted autonomous mode. During this period robots can cross the track as many times as possible earning two points every time they cross the line or if the robot knocks a ball off the rack they earn twelve points. After the fifteen second time period has run out drivers control their robot, possibly earning four to eight points. If robots push their ball across their line on the track they earn four points in the robots make the ball go over the rack they earn eight points.
